Dr. Matt Barber is fellow of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has a keen interest in men’s sexual health as well as gay and bisexual men’s health. Dr. Matt is competent in all aspects of general practice and strongly believes in providing a professional and respectful approach to patient care. He believes in focusing on the individual when assessing medical problems and delivering the right treatment for the right patient including non-drug treatments. Dr. Matt believes the best treatment approaches are made together with the doctor and the patient as well as being informed by high quality medical evidence.
As an s100 HIV prescriber, Dr. Matt Barber is qualified to prescribe medications for people living with HIV and is competent in managing all aspects of HIV medicine including PrEP (medication to prevent acquiring HIV). In addition to sexual health, Dr. Matt is keen to make the management of transgender and gender diverse management a normal part of general practice. He is always very happy to work with transgender patients on achieving their health goals.
Matt has worked from city to country to coast and enjoys the diversity of human experience that is offered to him by working as a medical doctor. In his spare time he enjoys CrossFit, travel and spending time exploring the natural world. He is the proud owner of a Cavoodle called Moxie and is engaged to his partner, Steven.
